Psychological Evaluations and Therapeutic Services
Services will be provided through the Just Kids Diasuostic and Treatment Center.The Psychology Department is an integral component of the Just Kids interdisciplinary treatment team approach. The Psychology Department provides direct psychological counseling and parent support services to Just Kids children and families, as well as classroom consultation, behavioral intervention and support, and psychological evaluations. All Psychologists are doctoral level graduates of accredited university programs and meet New York state licensing requirements, as well as receive ongoing clinical supervision and training.
The Just Kids Psychology Department, in keeping with the Just Kids philosophy, believes that children are most successful when parents are informed partners in their child’s growth. Therefore, every effort is made to offer on-going communication, outreach and support in the effort to bridge success both in school and the home. In addition to services, Psychologists are available for consultation with families on topics such as challenging behaviors in the home and community, sleeping and/or eating issues, and adjustment concerns.
Psychologists at Just Kids work with children and families to address emotional and behavioral issues. Issues that may arise include limited social skills, inattention, aggressive behaviors, anxiety, and impulsivity. Services provided by psychologists include-
Psychological Counseling– Individual and/or group counseling is available for children and adults. Medicaid and most health insurances accepted. For hours and appointments, please call 631-924-1000.
Parent Counseling and Training– Parents are offered the opportunity to meet individually to bridge behavioral interventions and supports from school to home, to increase education and awareness of child’s needs and behavior intervention strategies.
Classroom Consultation– Psychologists work with the child’s educational treatment team to provide support and intervention within the classroom to build positive social skills and appropriate behaviors within the classroom.
