Children are approved and enrolled at Just Kids ECLC by the Committee on Preschool Special Education Services (CPSE) from the child’s district of residence. Services provided include, but are not limited to: Special Education Classroom, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Psychological Counseling, Social Work and Family Training Services and other services as appropriate.
New York State certified special education and early childhood teachers work with each child to meet their individual educational needs. The department is supported by a robust curriculum, an agency wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS) System, ongoing professional development as well as a department supervisor and curriculum support personnel. The Creative Curriculum allows for differentiated instruction and ongoing data collection that continually informs the teaching and lesson planning. Teachers work closely with the child’s interdisciplinary team to follow the IEP developed by the CPSE. The department also participates and serves as an affiliation site for local universities providing field placement and training for future educators. The program meets every child’s unique needs in the areas of social, emotional, cognitive, language and physical needs on a daily basis. Teachers focus on student engagement, problem-solving skills, as well as overall student independence.
