Just Kids values parent involvement in all aspects of our program and understands the importance of developing strong partnerships with families. We believe that parents and guardians know their children best and are important in providing staff with information helpful to a child’s growth and development. Parents and guardians are encouraged to participate in events and activities at school. Just Kids believes that family involvement in learning increases a sense of competence and success in early learning.

Each unique site offers a variety of opportunities for parents and guardians to become involved in their child’s education such as parent-teacher conferences, parent support groups, PTO meetings and events, classroom activities, and school-wide celebrations. Classroom newsletters are also provided to families to communicate what the students are learning and highlight upcoming events and activities.

The Creative Curriculum is a research based, comprehensive curriculum for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. The Creative Curriculum’s framework is the foundation utilized in all of our classes. The goals of The Creative Curriculum are fully aligned with New York State’s Prekindergarten Early Learning Standards.

To enhance the curriculum, Just Kids utilizes a variety of researched-based programs to address communication, language, and literacy skills. Wilson Fundations® provides research-based materials and strategies essential to a comprehensive reading, spelling and handwriting program. As a recognized leader in multisensory, structured language programs, Wilson brings more than a decade of systematic and explicit instruction to the classroom. Fountas and Pinnell’s leveled reading program, a highly regarded program utilized in many school districts on Long Island and within the boroughs of New York City, have provided a structured methodology for students beginning to gain a strong interest in reading, which in turn encourages them to continue reading.
